uncovering hidden treasures

As we approach this holiday season and the close of a special year for Love Light & Melody, we stand with a heart full of gratitude. We are left speechless by all the blessings that have emerged before our very eyes.

Not even two weeks ago we were in Nicaragua.  Upon our arrival into the dump we encountered a sea of smiling faces at the School of Hope.  It was a party full of food, music, games, piñatas and lots of laughter.  As we took in the beauty of the countless faces we were reminded that joy often comes in unexpected packages.  This holiday season as you take stock of your life, don’t forget to look for the splendor that often hides behind corners.

In this crazy world, we don’t have to look as far as Nicaragua to see the devastating effects of trash.  We are all surrounded by our own personal dumps; but just like in Managua, treasures of hope emerge from the rubble.  Whether in the restored life of a child living amongst garbage, or in the surprising acts of mercy we are witness to here in the states, the overarching message is that hope still lives.

It is this hope that Love Light & Melody fights for. Thanks to all of you who have joined us in this battle.  We stand together with a unified voice that people and trash don’t go together.  Please read below to learn how some individuals have taken up their arms.

Friend and supporter, Laura Karlis, donated both her time and her treasure to help create the most brilliantly hand-made thank you cards for LL&M.  Crafted with Laura’s artistic touch, these cards brought together the beauty of plantable paper with a graphic design created by another LL&M friend, Hayes Trotter.

Three tri-athletes from the Denver, Colorado area, Drew Patterson, Alisha Smith, and Gregory Lorden, chose to use their talent to support the Love Light & Melody story.  The three of them competed in a race called “Tri for Your Cause” and raised money for the needs in Nicaragua.

Stories like this one are a great example of how people can use their own gifts to serve.  In fact, there are many others that have been inspired to join the LL&M story this same way. Whether planning a bike trip across Central America, competing in an “Ironman” race, or organizing a golf tournament, individuals are connecting to their own passions to raise awareness and resources for LL&M.

Love Light & Melody is privileged to bare witness to some of the most incredible stories of giving, but no story has moved our hearts more than a gift we received from Huntington Beach, California this last month.

Rachel Clark, a counselor, was so moved by the LL&M story that she shared it with the girls she works with.  In response these young ladies, struggling with there own personal burdens, started a recycling program to raise money for the children in Managua’s City Dump.  Just a beautiful picture of how brokenness can offer healing.

finding your voice

Connecting to the Love Light & Melody story is as simple as connecting to your own heart.

Your voice is unique only to you.  If you do not speak the world loses a story only you can tell.  Whether you find your voice by serving LL&M or by meeting the needs in your very own community or family, please let your offering be heard.

If you are having a hard time plugging in always remember you can contribute by investing your treasure! There are many projects in need of your resources, so if you are interested please visit our website and make a donation.

Thank you for standing with us!
